The Institute for the Research of Communism submitted entries in the non-profit and education categories for Hungary's largest digital marketing communications competition. The Institute's completely renewed website won a quality award in the non-profit category and a special prize in the education category.

This year, the "Website of the Year" competition was organized for the 22nd time, and in recent years it has become Hungary's largest digital marketing communications contest. This year, nearly 300 applications were submitted in 30 categories. The Institute competed in the non-profit and education categories.

In the non-profit category the Institute’s website was awarded with a quality award. In accordance with their evaluation the website is

focuses on collecting and expanding research on communism. The attention-grabbing, stylized authoritarian symbols and saturated colors accentuate the subject, while the numerous archive photographs further enhance the visual experience. The intelligent structuring of the content and the periods of the extensive database extends the usability of the site.

In the education category the Institute obtained the special prize. The sixteen-member jury thought that the website is

an ideal resource for students and adults with a special interest in history – particularly in the communist period, both in English and Hungarian. Its modern, block-based design is intended to provide clarity and easy access to topics, while presenting up-to-date content, events, exhibitions and related pages. The engaging and truly impressive layout and the meticulously crafted content persuaded the jury to award the Communism Research Institute website as the special prize winner in this category.

The ”Website of the Year” ceremony took place on the 7th of February in ETELE Cinema.
